Our Flowers

Did you know that every flower has a story?

Just like we have hometowns, flowers travel far from their homeland to your hands.

Would you like to know where your flowers came from? This is part of the flowerpost story.

1. Growing up on a farm

First, flowers are grown in climate controlled conditions in farms in Colombia and Ecuador. The unique thing about our flower farms are their fair trade and rainforest alliance status.

What is fair trade?

Fair trade is a certification process that communicates specific standards passed by farms.

Fair trade farms are:

  • small scale farms/farms that meet social, economic, environmental standards
  • workers' rights protection - paying them fairly (minimum price + premium)
  • owned 50% by producers - farmers and worker organizations have decision making power

Overall, this system aims to improve conditions for people who grows our flowers, using trade to benefit farmers and workers' livelihoods and help reach their potential.

In short, it's good for customers and producers.

What is the Rainforest Alliance?

Like the fair trade certificate which supports people who grow our flowers, this certificate protects the environment. These farms have met specific standards that:

  • protect forest
  • mitigate the climate crisis
  • promote the human rights of the farm workers

2. Flowers are processed and transported

When you pick up your flowers, do you think about about the people who picked them and sorted them?

The flowers in your hands have been through caring hands from across the world, who ensures the health and quality of the plants while doing a job to make a living for their families.

It's a human experience. We can support them by supporting fair trade and ecologically certified flowers.

flowerpost works with fair trade and ecologically certfied flower farms.

3. Sustainable packaging

We care about flowers and the packaging they come in.

We use paper based packaging (kraft paper, paper box) in our delivery process and minimize plastics use.

4. Neighborhood delivery

Being a neighborhood delivery service means we don't travel far to bring flowers to your hands. Other than the initial flower transport from processing, our distance to our customers are 5-10 minutes away by drive. Reducing our carbon footprint.

In the future, we strive to do more.

Thanks for learning about your flowers,

we hope you love your flowers :)
